Anthropic's proposed AI safety bill only kicks in if 50 deaths or $1B in damages
Google DeepMind researchers published a paper on arXiv showing four Gemini 4 Argon-based AI agents cooperated without human intervention to defeat the Ender Dragon in 27 hours 14 minutes. The agents split roles themselves and wrote and ran 2,783 programs, while their characters died 605 times in total.
For developers building multi-agent systems, it is a reference case of role splitting, repeated code writing and execution, and recovery from failures such as lost items, all running for over a day without human input.

Show HN: Sphinx – A hook that quizzes you on your AI's code before shipping
Sphinx is a Git hook for agent-assisted development that asks developers whether they understand what their code actually does before it is pushed. When you push to a branch you've marked as protected, Git pauses and a reviewer with no access to the earlier conversation reads the diff and asks how the changed code behaves in failure scenarios.
For teams pushing agent-written code to protected branches, a push-time comprehension check can reduce the risk of shipping unreviewed code with just a hook configuration.

Disney agrees to hire the majority of Character.AI’s workforce
After Character.AI filed for bankruptcy earlier this week, many of its employees will have the chance to take jobs at Disney. Former CEO Karandeep Anand recently became Disney's first CTO, and the startup previously said Disney had agreed to acquire some of its assets for $20 million.
Developers building on Character.AI's API or platform should check backup providers and migration paths, since bankruptcy and an asset sale could change service continuity and data handling.

Anthropic gives outside AI watchdog “employee-like” access
Anthropic has given an outside AI watchdog "employee-like" access. The watchdog can publish its findings without Anthropic's approval.
Teams building on Anthropic models can use independently published findings, released without company sign-off, as an extra input when assessing vendor risk and choosing tools.

Meta removes language that raised scraping and AI training concerns
Meta removed language from its terms that had raised concerns about web scraping and AI training. A Meta spokesperson insisted the updated terms did not reflect a change in the way Meta crawls the web.
Developers deciding whether to allow or block Meta's crawlers should recheck their robots.txt and data-access policies, since Meta says its crawling is unchanged despite the wording change.
